I studied Public Relations at the University of Lincoln from 2006 to 2009. Throughout the course I was continuously surprised by the diverse range of topics covered and the often intriguing theories that lay behind them. To supplement my degree, I chose to complete a summer of work experience with a PR agency in order to gain some hands on experience, which I thoroughly recommend, as for me this was not only great experience but led to a job offer from that agency once I graduated.
For two years I worked for Bray Leino PR on a range of high profile clients, campaigns and events including Virgin Media, breast cancer charity Walk the Walk’s flagship MoonWalk event, the launch of Peppa Pig World at Paulton’s Park and Ecover’s sponsorship of environmentally friendly fashion shows at London Fashion Week.
After leaving Bray Leino I found my feet in London working as a freelance Senior Account Executive for Lexis PR, before taking a slight change of career path to follow my passion for events and charity work. This led me to The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, where I took up a post last year as a Fundraising and Events Assistant.
The skills gained from my PR degree have opened up such a wide range of job opportunities; I feel I have already experienced quite a varied and exciting career at the tender age of 24! I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Sounds like a great course. Glad to hear it was a valuable experience for you. Wishing you all the best with your career!
