Georgia joins the PR Tribe

It is so exciting when the job is secured before you finish your studies, it takes the pressure of just a bit. But that didn’t stop Georgia Brown graduating with a first class honours degree in Public relations and Journalism this year.

Georgia, seen here with her tutor Jane Crofts and a couple of cygnets called Lin and Con, was one of the founding members of CygnetPR the student agency that is a conduit for work experience opportunities whilst at the University of Lincoln. Another year goes by….

It is now time for the class of 2012 to start filling the pages of this Alumni Blog. Graduation, as ever, the first week in September and this year the weather was glorious – warm and sunny with just a light breeze to make those caps fly!

We now have two prizes for the graduates who excel in their studies. The Chartered Institute of Public Relations Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Group continue to support us with a n award for the PR student of the year. This year the winner was Sophie Hanson who received a cheque and medal; Sophie had also been shortlisted for the Midland CIPR student of the year with her final year project on the fashion industry and PETA. PR Account Manager at White Space PR, Emma Noye and her team have been shortlisted for ‘Best Campaign £10,000 and Under’ in the 2012 East Anglia CIPR PRide Awards for their outstanding work with Ipswich Central.

Emma is the first to agree that work experience whilst studying at Lincoln has helped in her success.: “An  Easter work placement led to my first job when I graduated in a PR agency, then I was approached to work in-house for a software company handling all their marketing, PR and events. Then 18 months ago, White Space approached me to come on board and head up their fledging PR division and I absolutely love it!” Continue reading
